With spring right around the corner, many people will be cleaning out their homes ready for the warm weather.

That’s exactly what has inspired TikTok user Lady Legit to share her go-to cleaning hack to remove mould from her windows and bathroom.

In her video, she says: “If the windows in your house look anything like mine do here, you might want to watch the rest of this video because as embarrassing as it is to show, I really wanted to share this because I feel like a lot of us have mould in our house.

“We don’t realise how dangerous it is and just can’t seem to get rid of it permanently.” She says she tried out the viral Mould Magic Extreme, which can be bought on Amazon for around £10, to see whether it’s worth the hype – and was delighted with the results.

She added: “It’s supposed to actually get rid of the mould for good. It says to dry the area and leave the gel on for two to three hours.” After waiting the recommended time, she returns to show her followers the results, saying they “speak for themselves”.

She has been left with a mould-free windowsill – and is seen gently wiping the gel off with ease. She says: “For what it’s worth, I’ve tried about three different bleaches on stubborn mould around the house, but the mould would always grow back.”

According to the NHS, mould can cause sneezing, a runny nose, red eyes and skin rashes. Those most senstive to damp and mould include babies, children, older people, people with exisiting skin or respiratory problems and weakened immune systems.

A statement reads: “If you have mould or damp it’s important to find out why you have too much moisture in your home. When you know what’s causing the damp, you can make sure your home is repaired or take steps to limit the moisture in the air.

“You may need to get a professional to remove mould for you. But, if it’s only a small amount you may be able to remove it yourself. It’s important to wear gloves and a facemask if you’re removing mould. Always open a window if you’re using bleach products to remove it.”

Commenting on the TikTok video, one user said: “Just moved from a mould riddled house and went to put some furniture up in my new one and noticed my bookshelf and drawers are covered in mould. I’m tired.”

Another user added: “I’m trying the German way of opening all doors and windows in my flat for five minutes twice a day get a good air flow through – it’s really helping.”

A third user said: “I just used today on my daughter’s windows, let’s see if it really will keep it from coming back.”
