A shopper hit the “jackpot” after stumbling across a wooden cabinet in a charity shop and opening the door to find an unexpected bonus inside. Charity shops can be a goldmine for one-off items, as well as a handy spot to secure budget-friendly clothes, shoes, homeware, furniture, accessories and much more.

One savvy shopper struck gold after browsing a Goodwill store, a popular discount chain which boasts more than 150 outlets across the United States and Canada, and finding a large cabinet which was much more than she bargained for.

Crafted from wood, it looked strong, sturdy and classic in its construction but the shopper – who posted a video of her find on TikTok under the username @betterwithbells – decided to open the front door of the unit, where she soon realised the cabinet offered a lot more.

As the door opens, it doesn’t swing outwards on traditional hinges but instead rotates and swivels, with a curved section of shelves backed by a mirror becoming visible.

The shelves, which are complete with a metal trim to secure trinkets inside, offer stylish, discreet and unexpected storage and display options.

This inner segment also matches the shelves which appear at the side, creating a standout piece which is far more detailed and complex than it first seems.

The eight-second video struck a chord with TikTok users and has racked up more than 1.5 million views since @betterwithbells posted it.

Over the top of the clip, she added text to provide further insight. It reads: “POV [point of view]: You randomly started opening cabinets at Goodwill and hit the jackpot.”

In the caption accompanying the clip, she added: “PSA [public service announcement]: open all the cabinets instead of judging them from the outside.”

In the comments section, fellow TikTok users were keen to share their thoughts. One person referenced a growing trend which sees people purchase vintage wooden furniture and paint it.

They pleaded: “Please don’t paint it white”, to which Bells replied: “I promise I will not”.

Another TikTok user agreed: “Don’t paint it white or modernise it, keep it the way it is”.

A third disagreed and said: “I’d usually agree with you 100%, most things look bad modernised, but this piece fits modern day shelves very well if it were to have a lighter, more solid paint coat. Not everything is good vintage unfortunately, or modernising it will be a benefit.”

Someone else suggested: “You could clean and varnish it actually, it looks like it’s in good condition in the video. Plus, it’d probably match with their (Bells’) house better since I doubt it is full of white furniture”.

Another person joked: “Lowkey expected to see Narnia”.

And another simply said: “Stunning”.

One person ALSO jokingly demanded: “Give me it.”
