It had been a while since we’d seen the whole Beckham family out together.

And while the tabloids had picked up last year on the fact that their eldest child had been noticeably missing from family photo-ops, few could have foreseen how Brooklyn would briefly break the internet.

Will their eldest child come to regret the fallout? Had he really thought it through?

There are of course two sides to every story and we’re yet to hear his parents’ take. But it’s worth noting that behind the scenes the Beckhams have patently done quite a bit to try to launch their son’s career. With journalists around the world reaching out to the Beckhams for comment, so far the couple has said nothing. Anything other than silence arguably lends weight to Brooklyn’s argument that what they say is carefully stage-managed.

So for now, Sir David’s interview with CNBC in Davos might just be the closest we get to understanding what his parents are thinking.

Said under the guise of how young people use social media, Sir David’s reference to children being “allowed to make mistakes, that’s how they learn” is seemingly rather telling right now.

But of course this isn’t a small mistake. Brooklyn’s claims are akin to a grenade being thrown at the notoriously polished Brand Beckham.
