The Princess of Wales is known for her stellar fashion choices, not least this week when she wore a Victoria Beckham suit worth over £1.3k to a British Fashion Council do. However, Kate also aces more casual dressing and one of the many things that people love about her style is that she’s not afraid to stick to her guns and wear the clothes she knows suit her, whether they’re trending or not.

Despite fashion insiders declaring that skinny jeans have lost their cool status and been ushered out in favor of looser silhouettes like barrel legs and wide-legged flares, Kate continues to wear hers.

Her streamlined silhouette is unmistakable and she always knows how to make her skinnies work with classic heels, laid-back trainers, cosy cable-knit jumpers, or her go-to blazer. In 2024, she even chose skinnies for a particularly meaningful moment.

In a heartfelt Instagram post ahead of King Charles’ birthday parade – Trooping the Colour – Kate shared an update on her health after being diagnosed with cancer earlier that year. The image accompanying the post showed the princess in a stone-hued blazer, crisp white tee, and sleek skinny jeans.

We’ve done the hard work and found her exact jeans. From UK brand I Am Denim, Kate’s are the Above and Beyond Tummy Friendly High Waist Skinny Jeans, retailing at £95.

Available in sizes six to 20, the jeans have been designed with ‘tender tummy technology’ that the brand says are ideal for anyone who has been through “pregnancy, surgery, scars, weight loss or weight gain, mum-tum or bloating”.

At the time, The Princess of Wales had been through surgery and was having on-going treatment for her illness, she wrote in the post: “I am making good progress, but as anyone going through chemotherapy will know, there are good days and bad days. On those bad days you feel weak, tired and you have to give in to your body resting. But on the good days, when you feel stronger, you want to make the most of feeling well.

“…I am learning how to be patient, especially with uncertainty. Taking each day as it comes, listening to my body, and allowing myself to take this much-needed time to heal.”

The brand, founded by Sophie Cooper, is known for creating premium denim that adapts to changing bodies. The signature stretch denim includes full tummy coverage and a high-rise cut that flatters without restriction. They’re available in three shades: dark blue, white and black, and in petite, regular or tall lengths.
