Watch Sabrina Carpenter Arrest Anne Hathaway During ‘Juno’ at MSG Show
The actress traveled from Genovia to Madison Square Garden, but violated international law by being too beautiful, leaving Carpenter with no choice but to arrest her during “Juno”
Anne Hathaway made the trek all the way from Genovia to see Sabrina Carpenter kick off her five-night run at Madison Square Garden in New York. It’s unclear how international law works for fictional countries, but the actress must have been in violation of some rule — so it’s only fitting that Carpenter arrested her during “Juno.”
“It’s a crime to be this gorgeous. I just don’t know what to do when I see a face like this,” Carpenter said from onstage at the Oct. 26 show. When Hathaway told the singer she’s from Genovia, she responded, “Has anyone ever told you you look like a princess? I’m getting so flustered. Anne, can I arrest you for being the most perfect princess in the world?”
Carpenter handed Hathaway her fuzzy pink handcuffs and announced, “This one’s for Anne, everybody.” She joins recent arrestees Gigi Hadid, Joe Keery, and Olivia Dean, who were all arrested at past shows.
The extended edition of the Short n’ Sweet tour will continue on Tuesday, Oct. 28 with another show at Madison Square Garden. The singer will be stationed in NYC all week, with additional shows scheduled on Oct. 29 and 31, as well as Nov. 1.
Meanwhile, Hathaway is in fashion mode as she steps back into the role of Andy Sachs in The Devil Wears Prada 2, now in production. She’s been taking a few pages out of Carpenter’s pop playbook, too. Earlier this year, Hathaway went into the studio with the singer’s close collaborator, Jack Antonoff, to cut songs for David Lowery’s upcoming film Mother Mary.
“I had to submit to being a beginner,” Hathaway told Vogue about finding her singing voice for the titular role. “The humility of that—showing up every day knowing you’re going to suck. And it has to be okay. You’re not ‘bad.’ You’re just a beginner. Getting to that mindset—I had to shed some things that were hard to shed. It was welcome.”
