Numerous products have been recalled this month by retailers due to concerns over fire risks, illegal ingredients, and asbestos. Shoppers are being encouraged to return these items to shops in order to receive a full refund.

Items of concern include a hairdryer that poses a fire risk, two children’s toys that may contain asbestos, and a hot tub that’s a drowning risk. These alerts, published by the Office for Product Safety and Standards (OPSS), have been posted in the last couple of weeks in shops across the UK and online. Shoppers who have purchased the items can contact the retailer or the OPSS directly if they are concerned.

  • Spa Model Years: 2023, 2024, 2025
  • Rotary Jet Part Number 1883501-01

The rotary jet in this hot tub poses a drowning risk, as it can create suction that may entangle and trap hair. This may lead to the user becoming submerged underwater, and drowning.

For those who own the product, the OPSS says: “The manufacturer has stopped sales of the 6fin rotary jet and advised end users (via distributors) to switch off the 6fin rotary jets. End users are encouraged to register with their distributor for a replacement rotary jet. For more information, please contact: eujetrecall@watkinsmfg.com.”

  • Gold Jumbo Monkey – Product Code: 17451

  • Funkee Jumbo Dog – Product Code: 17409

These toys, which were sold through The Entertainer, Tesco, Matalan, Hobbycraft and British Garden Centres stores and websites between July 2025 and February 2026, have been recalled as they pose a risk to health as the sand may be contaminated with a small quantity of asbestos. Asbestos is a banned substance because it poses a health risk even at low levels of exposure.

Sharing disposal instructions, the OPSS say: “Stop using the product immediately. If the sand is still in its packaging, place in a heavy-duty plastic bag, double tape it securely, label it clearly and store in a secure location out of the reach of children.

“If the sand has been used, clean up sites where the product was used using wet cloths to avoid generating dust. Wear gloves and a mask. Double bag the sand, gloves, mask and cloths.

“Keep children and other people away from areas where the sand has been used until the area has been cleaned. Dispose of the product in your general household waste, or return to store where specified by the retailer, who will provide a full refund.”

This travel dryer, which was given to customers as a free gift with a purchase, has been recalled due to fire safety concerns.

Issuing the recall notice, the OPSS said: “The product presents a risk of fire as it may overheat during use. This could lead to the product igniting and catching fire, presenting a risk to users. The product does not meet the requirements of the Electrical Equipment (Safety) Regulations 2016.”

Could Nine recommend that customers stop using the travel dryer immediately and sustainably dispose of the product. For further information and help, contact Cloud Nine’s Customer Experience team by emailing info@cloudninehair.com.

Both chemicals are prohibited in cosmetic products.

“BMHCA may harm the reproductive system, may harm the health of the unborn child, and may cause skin sensitisation. The products do not meet the requirements of Regulation (EC) 1223/2009 (‘The Cosmetics Regulation’).”

Customers are being asked to return any of the products above that have been bought at Savers to the place of purchase. Customers will be able to receive a full refund.

Asbestos is a banned substance because it poses a health risk even at low levels of exposure. The product does not meet the requirements of the Toys (Safety) Regulations 2011.”
