There’s a quiet revolution happening in beauty, and that doesn’t begin with makeup but with our skin. Skincare is no longer a backstage ritual, and there is a shift in focus among shoppers as they look for ways to wear less makeup and show off their unfiltered skin.

Experts behind skincare brand Trinny London spent four years testing a new product and this week launched Naked Ambition – a daily serum that combines slow-release vitamin C with an azelaic acid exosome – to lift dark spots and promote a brighter complexion while reducing redness for better skin tone. The combination of these two main ingredients have showed huge skin improvements within 14 days.

Designed to be used after cleansing every morning, Naked Ambition is what founder Trinny Woodall described as a ‘vitamin C that everyone can use’. The serum is priced at £69 for a full-size 30ml, or £27 for a 9.5ml travel size. Refills are also available to purchase at £57.

Elsewhere Victoria Health’s DoSe Azelaic Acid 10% Serum, £15, is a skin-friendly chemical exfoliant that aims to deliver clear, bright, congestion-free skin ideal for blemish-prone skin and skin prone to redness.

For a similar gel-like texture, Medik8’s C-Tetra Advanced Serum (£69) contains 20% of vitamin C with phyto exosomes to improve the skin’s recovery from exposure to environmental stressors.

Effective azelaic acids are usually available for prescriptions only to improve cell turnover, reducing acne formation and inflammation. When packed in exosomes, the actives are encapsulated in nano particles that can reach deeper within the skin. Trinny’s Naked Ambition is packed with 10% of vitamin C and 10% of azelaic acid exosomes for boosting radiance.

Clinical studies on tested showed a reduction in redness and the appearance of dark spots in two weeks. Early testers who were given Naked Ambition samples are now happy to include the serum as part of their skincare staples. One shared: “It made my complexion so smooth and gave my skin such a healthy, radiant glow. The texture is light and absorbs beautifully, making it a joy to apply every morning. My skin looks brighter and feels so much fresher.”

Another said: “Has taken years off my face, skin looks clear and even for the first time in a very long time. My face has a glow and I feel comfortable without makeup.”

While some said the serum made an ‘immediate impact’ on their skin, others disagreed and said they had to observe for a longer period as one commented: “There are definite improvements in radiance, skin tone and pigmentation. This has been a gradual process so I’m hoping with continued use improvements will continue.”
