These smart glasses have been recalled for overheating temples causing burns

A company called Inmo that makes several different variations of smart glasses has issued a recall for its Air3 because the left temple “can overheat during extended use, posing a risk of serious injury or death due to burn hazard.” To date there have been 10 reports of users experiencing a “burning sensation to the face and the left side of the ear” while using the Air3, according to the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC).

The recall includes over 1,600 Air3 glasses sold in the US and Canada between December 2025 and August 2026 through the company’s website, Amazon, and a Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign for between $900 and $1,300. The glasses can be identified by their black frames and a label printed with Air3 and Inmo on the right temple.

A recall page on the company’s website directs consumers to stop using the Air3 glasses immediately and to reach out to Inmo’s support team by phone or email who will assist with a free online software update to remedy the issue. While the official recall in cooperation with the CPSC is a recent initiative, reviews of the glasses from as far back as seven months ago highlight the overheating left temple issue and the burning sensation it causes. It’s an issue the company was already aware of as it included a protective sleeve with the glasses designed to protect the user’s head from the excessive heat while wearing them.
