Tesco and Lidl issue ‘unsafe to eat’ warning to buyers of rice and snack

Tesco and Lidl have issued a food recall notice for two popular items. All those who have purchased the Snaktastic Multigrain Bites Sour Cream & Black Pepper from budget retailer Lidl are advised to return the item, while those who have purchased Tesco Special Fried Rice should be wary of undeclared allergens.

Both supermarkets and the Food Standards Agency have posted recall notices for these items, warning shoppers to return them to the store or dispose of them as they pose a health risk. While Tesco‘s fried rice may only pose a risk to those with an allergy or intolerance to wheat or gluten, or to coeliacs, the FSA has warned that Snaktastic Multigrain Bites pose a choking risk to all shoppers.

Snaktastic Multigrain Bites Sour Cream & Black Pepper

Lidl is recalling the Snaktastic Multigrain Bites Sour Cream & Black Pepper as they may contain foil. The FSA says: “Lidl GB is recalling the above-mentioned product due to the potential presence of foil foreign bodies, which may present a choking hazard.

“If you have bought the above product, we advise you not to eat it. Customers are asked to return this product to the nearest store, where a full refund will be given.”

Tesco Special Fried Rice

Tesco is recalling the Special Fried Rice due to undeclared wheat, which poses a risk to those with a gluten allergy or intolerance. 

The FSA and Tesco advise: “If you have purchased the affected product and have an allergy or intolerance to wheat, please do not eat it and instead return it to any Tesco store for a full refund. No receipt is required.”
