Netflix UK’s current number three film is an action thriller that is being dubbed one of the worst movies ever made.

Despite garnering poor reviews from both critics and audiences alike, including an average score of 3.7 on IMDb and a 50 percent audience rating on Rotten Tomatoes, the film has rocketed up the charts just hours after its release on Wednesday, 1st April.

A Line of Fire stars David A.R. White (God’s Not Dead) as former FBI agent Jack ‘Cash’ Conry, who abandoned the world of international espionage following the tragic loss of his wife and now focuses his energy on raising his two daughters.

Still driven to make a difference, Cash is dragged back into the fray by a call from his ex-partner’s niece, Jamie (played by Katrina Bowden), throwing him headfirst against ruthless criminal masterminds Josef Amali (Jason Patric) and Javier Cardona (Cuba Gooding Jr.).

While the film has been almost universally condemned, A Line of Fire could prove ideal Friday night entertainment for devotees of ‘so bad it’s good’ cinema.

One Letterboxd user awarded the film a withering half-star review, writing: “I genuinely wonder who the audience is for this type of movie.

“To call this the worst action film I’ve seen would be an underplay, it’s even worse than that. It looks so cheap and it’s filmed so badly it’s almost shocking.”

Another viewer branded it “easily the worst film I have ever watched”, adding “there was this one death scene that was so bad I had to get someone to come and laugh at it with me”. Another user raged: “Terrible is an understatement for this movie. The writing is so predictable as it follows your generic action movie plot.

“Not to mention the actors do not help better the movie as they were also terrible. The script is a bunch of 1 liners that the actors failed to deliver.

“Everything sounds Ai generated or even on a very low budget. If I could get back the time wasted on this movie, I would gladly do so. Would not recommend.”

One IMDb review branded it “hilariously bad”, though the critic couldn’t resist recommending the cinematic catastrophe regardless.

“But here’s the twisted beauty,” they continued. “This movie is so spectacularly, catastrophically awful that it transcends badness and becomes pure entertainment gold. Sometimes disaster creates accidental art.”

Yet another viewer remarked: “A Line of Fire isn’t just bad – it’s gloriously, unintentionally funny bad.

“Invite your friends over to watch and, if they still talk to you after it’s over, you hit the jackpot in life. 1 star – and that’s only because zero isn’t an option.”

Netflix subscribers seeking to disengage their brains and revel in some absurd relentless action, cheesy one-liners and wooden performances need look no further.

A Line of Fire is available to stream on Netflix.
