The rapper was sentenced for probation violations following his plea deal in the federal racketeering and firearms case

Tekashi 6ix9ine was accompanied by streamer Adin Ross when surrendering to the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn on Tuesday afternoon to begin his three-month jail sentence for probation violations following his plea deal in the federal racketeering and firearms case.

During a nearly two-hour long live stream on Ross’ channel, the rapper, born Daniel Hernandez, was surrounded by friends during his send-off and at one point, content creator Stephen Deleonardis helped cut the rapper’s ankle monitor off. “Thank you guys so much see you in 3 months,” wrote Hernandez in an Instagram post of the clip.

While Hernandez and his crew tried to keep things upbeat in the car on the way to the detention center, blasting and singing along to Justin Bieber’s “Baby” and “Hold On” by  Lil Tjay in the limo, the mood took a somber turn once Hernandez officially turned himself in.

“That’s actually so fucking sad, I don’t give a fuck,” Ross said to the camera after Hernandez walked away. “That’s horrible, bro.”

The sentence was the second time Hernandez was ordered back behind bars and stems from a pair of incidents the artist was involved in last year while still under supervised release following his involvement in a New York gang case. In 2018, Hernandez was arrested in New York on racketeering and firearm charges related to his involvement with the Nine Trey Bloods gang. After initially pleading not guilty, Hernandez, facing 32 years to life in prison, entered into a plea deal in February 2019 and pleaded guilty to nine charges, admitting that he had ordered a Nine Trey member to shoot at someone in a rival gang.

Reps for Hernandez and Ross did not immediately respond to Rolling Stone‘s request for comment.
