Taylor Swift to Be Inducted in Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame

Taylor Swift will wrack up her second Hall of Fame induction later this year. On Tuesday morning, the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame announced that Swift will become the youngest-ever member, joining the likes of Johnny Cash, Dolly Parton, Loretta Lynn, and Willie Nelson. Back in June, she also became the youngest woman inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame, which she accepted with a moving, emotional speech.

“From the time I started writing songs as a child, I fixated on Nashville as the perfect place to be,” Swift said in a statement read by Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame Executive Director Mark Ford, after he listed her numerous accolades. “I wanted to learn with and from the best, and get to immerse myself in a community of storytellers. And thankfully, Nashville turned out to be exactly what I dreamed of, a town that validated and prioritized hard work, determination, and imagination, where the writers show up to work every day, even when the mysterious muses and the magic don’t. To be honored by this city I love so much is a beautiful thing and I’m very grateful.”

Swift will be inducted under the Contemporary Songwriter/Artists category. Her fellow nominees this year included Miranda Lambert, Chris Stapleton, and Phil Vasser. Lyle Lovett will also take the honor as the Veteran Songwriter/Artist, Bruce Channel as Veteran Songwriter, and both Lee Thomas Miller and Shawn Camp as Contemporary Songwriters.

It’s perfect timing for Swift, who just returned to country radio with her single, “I Knew It, I Knew You,” from the Toy Story 5 soundtrack, which broke a record as the first song by a woman to “close out the panel on impact”: meaning, every single country radio station signed on to play the song in the very first week.

Swift will be inducted in a ceremony in Nashville this fall.
