Suki Waterhouse is sharing her newest fave songs (and the soundtrack of her past). The musician joined Rolling Stone‘s Song Shuffle to share a glimpse of the diverse music on her playlist.

Waterhouse shuffled her songs to first play Doechii‘s “Denial Is a River,” which she recently started listening to during a trip to New York City.

“I was walking around the street and I just had a couple of hours to be by myself and really savor Doechii,” she said. “And then I just started texting everybody being like, ‘Doechii Doechii Doechii Doechii. Have you heard every single Doechii song? How amazing is Doechii? These songs are incredible.’”

Waterhouse joked that she was walking into sessions saying she wanted to be like the rapper, but “I could never be Doechii, I won’t ever succeed in ever making a Doechii song.”

“I always end up writing something probably quite sad. Just the song structure, everything about her [is great],” she added. “I was just like popping my booty for the first time in a while. Amazing album.”

Waterhouse then played Waxahatchee and MJ Lenderman’s “Right Back to It,” as she shared her admiration for both artists, calling Waxahatchee’s Katie Crutchfield “one of my top writing heroes.”

“I mean, Waxahatchee is probably one of my favorite bands,” Waterhouse explained. “She’s just unbelievable, and I also follow her on Substack … everything that’s going on in her mind and where she is. So I feel like — I’ve never met her, but I feel like we’re connected.”

Waterhouse reflected on performing “Anything” by TOPS with Jane Penny during a tour stop in Toronto, shared her favorite Kim Deal song, and encouraged viewers to play her single, “Dream Woman,” too.

“I was working on it a while ago and I couldn’t quite figure it out. I’ll have this thing where I’ll just like forget about the song. And then Lena Dunham contacted me and she has a show she’s making and she said, ‘Do you have a song that I could have for the show?’ It’s not out yet but it’s really funny,” she said.
