Stranger Things star’s controversial film that will make people ‘sick’ | Films | Entertainment

A film branded among the “most controversial of all time” is being reimagined, with a Stranger Things actor joining the ensemble.
The 1978 original Faces of Death featured graphic depictions of animals and people dying, styled as a documentary. It sparked persistent speculation that the deaths shown were genuine.
Whilst the majority of disturbing sequences were fabricated, the film did incorporate authentic footage interspersed throughout, including archival images of deceased individuals and accident scenes. This led to it being banned in Britain for a period, as distributing such ‘video nasties’ constituted a criminal offence.
The remake now boasts Dacre Montgomery (Stranger Things), Barbie Ferreira (Euphoria) and musician Charli XCX (The Moment) amongst its stellar line-up. Josie Totah (Saved by the Bell), Aaron Holliday (Cocaine Bear) and Jermaine Fowler (The Blackening) complete the cast, reports the Mirror.
This new iteration follows a content moderator (played by Ferreira) working for a YouTube-style platform, who uncovers copycat crimes mimicking the original Faces of Death murders.
Once more, the concept aims to blur the boundaries between fiction and reality for audiences. According to a film synopsis, the movie “continues the exploration of the original film’s infamous ‘Is it real or not?’ conceit.”
It continues: “A woman working as a content moderator for a major video platform discovers what appears to be re-enactments of murders from the original film.
“In an online world where nothing can be trusted, she must determine whether the violence is fiction, or unfolding in real time.”
A teaser for this anticipated remake has already been removed from YouTube due to violations of its terms of service regarding violent and graphic content, reports Bloody Disgusting. The clip showcased various death scenes, including a beheading, a bear attack, and a lorry crash.
The remake has sparked a flurry of reactions from potential viewers. One commented: “Haven’t seen the 1978 original movie, but the trailer is on YouTube. Made me sick watching, stomach was turning and all. Wanted to gag but I gotta watch it in order to get through this one.”
Another viewer remarked: “Some things aren’t worth being nostalgic about,” while a third chimed in with: “GROSS. NOBODY NEEDS THIS.”
Faces of Death is slated for release on April 10. For the latest showbiz, TV, movie and streaming news, go to the new ** Everything Gossip ** website.
