Spider-Man Brand New Day hit cinemas yesterday to good reviews and an expected box office weekend that’s due to rival Avengers Endgame. This new MCU movie is Tom Holland’s fourth solo outing as the Web Slinger and it looks like he’s not going anywhere anytime soon.

Apart from featuring in at least 2027’s Avengers Secret Wars (and maybe even Avengers Doomsday this Christmas) with Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield rumoured to return, there are plans laid out from Spider-Man 5 to Spider-Man 9. If Brand New Day is kicking off the second trilogy, no doubt Holland’s Spidey will be handing over to live-action Miles Morales for a third.

Speaking with Chinese outlet Watching Hollywood, Marvel boss Kevin Feige said: “We definitely have plans, and I think a live-action Spider-Man movie has this destiny: to add Miles sometime after the Spider-Verse series ends. We’ve been thinking and discussing more Spider-Man adventures, regardless of agreements or contracts. My production partner, Amy Pascal, is already working on it, and we’ve had in-depth discussions about what the next two, three, four, and five Spider-Man movies might be about.”

Meanwhile, Holland told The Hollywood Reporter he’s not going anywhere anytime soon: “I will do it for as long as they’ll have me. So if this movie does good, I guess we’ll see!”

Nevertheless, when the time comes to hang up the costume, Holland told Happy Sad Confused Podcast that there’s a plan: “It’s laid out, it’s gonna change for sure, but I have a really clear vision to the passing of the baton and I think it’s really exciting.” Presumably that’s passing it on to Miles rather than yet another rebooted Peter Parker.

As for Tom Hardy’s Venom leaving a piece of his symbiote in Earth-616 during his brief multiverse visit in No Way Home, presumably Holland will face his very own version at some point. He added: “Anything could happen. Who knows what the future of my Spider-Man looks like. Just wait and see.”

Spider-Man Brand New Day is out now in UK cinemas.
