Some Minnesota schools announce closings, virtual learning on Thursday due to snow
Some schools in Minnesota have already announced closings or shifts to virtual learning on Thursday as another round of winter weather threatens parts of the state.
The full list of closings is below.
A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect from 7 p.m. Wednesday to 7 p.m. Thursday as a messy mix of precipitation moves across Minnesota, creating widespread travel impacts. WCCO has issued a NEXT Weather Alert.
The system will bring wet snow to northwestern Minnesota, rain to the southeast, and a wintry mix in between, according to the National Weather Service.
The advisory warns of snow, sleet, and heavy rain, with conditions likely to make roads slippery and hazardous.
Travelers should prepare for slower commutes and reduced visibility, especially during the morning hours Thursday. The system is expected to move through the region by Thursday evening.
