Shaboozey Shares ‘Blink Twice’ With Myles Smith From Deluxe Album
Shaboozey is settling into the introspection that comes in the cab ride home after the kind of night out he amped up on “A Bar Song (Tipsy).” On his latest single, “Blink Twice,” the country star checks in with himself after an explosive year, realizing that a whirlwind breakout can quickly turn into an exhaustive sinkhole without meaningful self-care practices.
“Living on the edge and finding out it’s kind of dull/Realize I am somebody that I don’t know at all/Oh God, would you tell me why I’m worn down to the bone/Even though I’ve only seen half of the world, I’m coming home,” Shaboozey sings in the opening verse. “Hanging onto hope I’m losing grip on time and space/Mind is running circles over something I can’t change/I’ve loved, I’ve tired, no one taught me when in Rome/Am I feeling all the feelings, or am I just going numb?”
Later on the song, he’s joined by the British musician Myles Smith, who follows a punching, bluesy chorus with his own reflections, singing: “I’ve tried everything I thought that I may need/I’ve been trying to catch my breath since I was 17/I’ve hurt, I’ve cried, had way too much to drink/But I won’t let my life drown in that old kitchen sink.”
“Blink Twice” will appear on the forthcoming deluxe version of Where I’ve Been, Isn’t Where I’m Going, out April 25. The complete edition of the album will feature six additional songs, including collaborations with Jelly Roll (“Amen”) and Sierra Ferrell (“Hail Mary”). The previously released single “Good News,” released in November 2024, will also appear on the record.
On “Good News,” Shaboozey shared similar reflections on his mainstream breakthrough. “Man, what a hell of a year it’s been/Head in a bottle, but my heart in a case,” he sang. “It’s gettin’ harder to act my age/Play a sad song on a tiny violin/For the man at the bar confessin’ his sins.”
Earlier this year, Shaboozey took the stage at the 2025 Grammy Awards to perform “A Bar Song,” which was nominated for Song of the Year, Best Country Solo Performance, and Best Country Song. This weekend, he’ll make his Coachella debut on the festival’s main stage.
