Back in 1987, Brian De Palma directed the gangster crime classic The Untouchables.

Kevin Costner stars as real-life Prohibition agent Eliot Ness in 1930s Chicago, where he forms his Untouchables team to take down Robert De Niro’s Al Capone.

His dry agents are played by Sean Connery, Charles Martin Smith and Andy Garcia.

The film also covers how the law enforcement group brought down Capone by focusing on his tax avoidance, leading to his imprisonment at Alcatraz.

The well-reviewed film features Ennio Morricone’s Grammy Award-winning score and was nominated for four Oscars. Connery went on to win the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor.

The Untouchables is on BBC Two this Sunday evening at 10pm and will be on BBC iPlayer for a limited time afterwards.
