The song evokes Glen Campbell’s version of “Southern Nights” and appears on Meech’s new album Easin’ On

No trip to Nashville is complete without a day (or late night) spent at Robert’s Western World when Sarah Gayle Meech is onstage: The queen of the honky-tonk plays the last true country bar in town every Thursday and Saturday. On Friday, Meech dropped her new video for “Love Me,” premiering on Rolling Stone Country.

It’s a smooth-as-bourbon performance, with Meech evoking the sheen of Seventies country music. Bonus: There’s a steel guitar! Meech says the track is a nod to Glen Campbell’s polished vibes, in particular his version of Allen Toussaint’s “Southern Nights.” “Love Me was inspired by Glen Campbell’s ‘Southern Nights.’ I’ve heard the song’s sound referred to as countrypolitan, champagne country, and one of my players says it sounds like Dottie West meets ELO,” Meech tells Rolling Stone. “It’s a fun listen with plenty of steel guitar and big lush string arrangements.”

The video, directed by Gabriel Kirkpatrick Mann, leans into that whimsical era, with disco balls, a stark white backdrop, and Meech singing straight to the camera while her band, including Nashville ace Mark Andrew Miller on bass, shimmy and sway.

Meech released her latest album, Easin’ On, earlier this spring. She’ll hit the road on June 29 for a U.S. tour that brings her to L.A., Austin, and the Midwest. In February of 2025, she sets sail on the inaugural Boots on the Water Cruise with Jo Dee Messina, Pam Tillis, Suzy Bogguss, and more. Until then, catch her at Robert’s on Broadway (this means you, CMA Fest people).
