This means households and businesses in those locations will not receive their mail punctually. Royal Mail aims to deliver letters and parcels six days a week. However, it has encountered multiple disruptions across the UK.

As of Monday, March 16, Royal Mail’s air and road networks are reported to have operated to schedule over the past 24 hours.

However, Birmingham Mail Centre has reported that not all of its mail was processed and dispatched to schedule over the weekend.

Specifically, mail posted on Friday in the B, HR and WR postcode areas, due to be delivered on Saturday, may not arrive on time.

Royal Mail said: “We aim to deliver to all addresses we have mail for, six days a week. In a small number of local offices, this may temporarily not be possible due to local issues such as high levels of sick absence, resourcing, or other local factors.

“In those cases, we will rotate deliveries to minimise the delay to individual customers. We also provide targeted support to those offices to address their challenges and restore our service to the high standard our customers would normally receive. We’re sorry for any inconvenience and thank you for your understanding.”

Presently, Royal Mail is reporting delays across 20 depots. These are located throughout the UK, including Glasgow, Bristol, Pontyclun, Sunderland and Swindon.

This has resulted in disruption across 63 postcode areas, leaving residents in affected regions of England, Wales and Scotland experiencing postal delays.
