Razer has announced its first keyboard with a split and curved ergonomic layout. The new Pro Type Ergo is available starting today, which at $189.99 is slightly more expensive than the more traditional $159.99 Pro Type Ultra that launched in 2021. Like its predecessor, Razer’s new Pro Type Ergo is being positioned as a productivity tool instead of a gaming accessory, but still includes the company’s signature colorful LED lighting broken up into 19 zones that can be customized or disabled.

The Pro Type Ergo features ultra-low-profile, laser-etched ABS keys with a fingertip-shaped design and sound-dampening layers beneath, so you’re not distracting your coworkers with incessant clacking. According to a release from the company, their curved layout better fits the natural resting position of your arms and hands. Additionally, they explain that the split design includes dual “B” keys and an extra backspace key located between dual space bars that “lets both thumbs handle frequent actions more comfortably, reducing finger crossover and unnecessary reach.”

The keyboard also features a Razer Command Dial in each corner, which you can assign up to eight functions, and a vertical strip of five customizable macro keys on the left side whose functionality will change depending on what app you’re currently using. On the right side of the Ergo, above its number pad, you’ll also find a dedicated button for launching Razer’s AI Prompt Master app, providing quick access to your preferred AI tool.

Since it’s a keyboard designed to prioritize comfort, the Ergo’s padded wrist rest is non-removable. Its keys are arranged in a 10-degree slope, but the angle of the Pro Type Ergo can be further adjusted with up to seven degrees of front or rear tilt to accommodate a user’s preferences. Battery life is rated at up to three months on a full charge, but that could vary depending on how you’re connecting to computers or mobile devices. The Ergo can connect up to five devices in total; three over Bluetooth, one over a 2.4Ghz HyperSpeed Wireless connection, and one with a USB-C cable.
