Rapper HoodyBaby Also Charged in Chris Brown’s Alleged London Attack
American rapper born Omolulu Akinlolu also facing grievous bodily harm with intent charge over February 2023 incident
Days after Chris Brown’s arrest in connection with an alleged attack at a London nightclub, rapper HoodyBaby has been also been charged over the incident.
British police announced on Saturday that Omolulu Akinlolu, the American rapper known as HoodyBaby, has been charged with grievous bodily harm with intent for the February 2023 attack, the same charge that Brown is facing.
Akinlolu — a longtime friend of Brown’s who has also worked on music with the singer — is due to appear in court in Manchester, England on Saturday, Reuters reports. Police did not provide any other details regarding Akinlolu’s role in the alleged assault.
On Friday, Brown was ordered to remain in custody on the “extremely serious” charges related to an alleged nightclub attack where the singer allegedly beat a music producer Amadou “Abe” Diaw with a tequila bottle and then stomped on him, resulting in a hospitalization and, later, a $16 million lawsuit related to the attack.
Despite Brown’s lawyer arguing that the singer wasn’t a flight risk, Judge Joanne Hirst rejected his bail request at a hearing and ordered that he remain in custody until his next hearing on June 13 in London.
The judge’s ruling jeopardizes Brown’s planned 20th anniversary tour of the U.K. and Europe, as the singer was scheduled to begin that trek on June 8 in Amsterdam, five days before his next hearing; June 13 also coincides with Brown’s planned concert in Frankfurt, Germany.
