A heartbreaking dog has been left in a stranger’s garden with a gut-wrenching message from her devastated owner.

Scared and confused, poor Queeni doesn’t understand why she has been abandoned – but it is hopeful to find a new home soon.

Once her story was posted on social media, Facebook users shared their sympathies for her previous owner, who reluctantly made the decision to give her up.

Her heartbreaking note, attached to Queeni, stated: “Hi. Sorry for dropping Queeni in your yard this morning, but I can no longer care for her.

“Please take care of her. She is good in the home, loves going outside in the yard, plays with her plastic bone, and likes to watch TV with you.

“She has never been around young children or other dogs. But she is a lovely dog. Please take care of her.”

After being found, little Queeni was taken in by the Darlington County Humane Society, which has arranged a standard veterinary examination for her.

A statement from the rescue centre declared: “Queeni has arrived! Only positive vibes here! Together, we save lives, and Queeni will need your help getting back into a home.

“She will be heartworm tested once she settles in a little, and then we will work on evaluations with other dogs.

“If you might have a bit of time to volunteer – just to sit with a darling and love on them – we’re sure Queeni and her new friends here would appreciate that.”

Responding to the post, one user said: “At least the former owner didn’t shoot the dog, leave her chained to a tree to starve, or let her loose to be struck and killed by a car.

“Poor girl. Why do people get dogs they can’t care for, and why don’t people get their pets spayed and neutered?

“Why do the good and kind people have to be the only ones responsible? Why can’t we start passing and enforcing laws about pets?”

Another user commented: “Sweet angel girl. I know you’re confused, but your family wants the best for you. God bless you and your family.”

A third user said: “It’s gut-wrenching to see such a sweet baby having to go through this, but on a positive note, Queenie has a staff that is second to none at the Darlington Humane Society.

“She is being very well taken care of, and they will do everything in their power to find her the most loving home possible.”

One more user commented: “The letter gets me every time. I’m just glad this girl is safe with people who are kind and caring.

“She looks so much like my pitty-lab mix. My girl is awesome. I hope someone will take a chance.”
