A woman is on a mission to change stereotypes as she claims people call her “just a cleaner” and do not realise the hard work she puts in.

Deciding what you want to do for a living is no easy feat, but doing something you love and are passionate about always helps build up success. One woman has shared what her day-to-day looks like as a passionate self-employed cleaner.

The young woman, who is on a mission to “change homes for the better”, says she sees so many people looking down on jobs like hers. But she is earning a good livining – all without having to answer to a boss.

The owner of Atomic Cleans set up her business 12 months ago, and manages to rake in £2,500 every month. At first, she was making around £50 a week, but has since built up her client profile and now rakes in £30,000 every year.

Taking to TikTok via account @atomic.cleans, the cleaner said: “I see so many misconceptions about the cleaning industry and how some people look down on jobs just like mine. Being a cleaner isn’t just getting a spray and wiping a surface. We deal with much more then that.”

The solo buinsess owner said she is also her own accountant, manages her social media pages, manages clients and more. Her cleaning jobs include end of tenancy clear ups, bathroom transformations and more. She also loves making cute shapes out of toilet paper, tea towels, bath towels and more.

The passionate woman, who shares tips and tricks online, said: “I have to wake up every day and provide myself with a living. My job is 24/7 I don’t get to work a 9-5 and go home and not worry about work till the next day. I put my graft it and the money I get back shows that.”

“Being JUST a cleaner is more then it seems,” she added.

People rushed to show support to the hard-working woman, and many cleaners also shared their experiences. One cleaning said: “I am a cleaner on the railway, I am happy with my 40k salary but people likely look down on me. Plus only takes a few hours then just take it easy. Keep up the good work.”

Jodie Smith, who also owns her own cleaning business, said: “I’ve a cleaning business. I don’t advertise or have staff, do the some clients every month, do all school pick ups n drop offs. I’m at every school event n take holidays every year. Love it! Don’t earn as much as you but I’m very happy.”

Another cleaner added: “I’ve had my cleaning business for 14 years and as a single mum too it’s hard bloody work but I’m so lucky I have the best clients who make it worthwhile,I would love to earn what you do.”

One other shared: “My sister was a single mum and qualified mortgage advisor. Lost her job, set up a cleaning company 15 years ago and now lives mortgage free and buy to let property with multiple holidays a year.”

One other said: “Job snobbery is the worst and usually comes from those who couldn’t do the job they’re looking down their nose at.”
