Netflix has unveiled a brand new trailer for the highly anticipated Peaky Blinders film today (February 19), introducing a mysterious new character to the fold.

Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man is set in 1940, against the backdrop of the Second World War.

It follows Tommy Shelby (played by Cillian Murphy) as he emerges from self-imposed exile to face his illegitimate son, Duke (Barry Keoghan), who has risen to become the new leader of the Peaky Blinders.

As Ada Shelby (Sophie Rundle) warns Tommy in the new clip, Duke – who made his first appearance in the TV series’ sixth season – is running the gang “like it’s 1919 all over again.”

A new character named Kaulo, portrayed by Rebecca Ferguson, also makes her debut. Her role has been shrouded in secrecy, though it has been confirmed she is an acquaintance of Tommy’s.

Opening the trailer, she whispers – apparently directed at Tommy – that “you live in a house haunted by ghosts, of people who died because of you.”, reports the Mirror.

She then delivers the cutting line: “You abandoned your kingdom. And you abandoned your son.”

Fans have since rushed to the comments section to share their initial reactions to the new footage, with one writing: “It’s going to be an amazing experience! I can’t wait!”

Another devoted Peaky Blinders supporter added: “Bruh, March 20 is my birthday. If this is not the best birthday gift, IDK what is.”

A third chimed in: “Barry Keoghan and Cillian Murphy, both of them look so badass, I am hyped for this one.”

Speaking about the film prior to its March release this year, lead actor Cillian revealed to Netflix‘s Tudum that his character Tommy reaches a point where he is “as broken as he has been” when viewers encounter him.

He added: “He’s just medicating and living in this purgatory that he’s created for himself in this big old house.

“He’s in this liminal space, not really living, he’s not really dead. He’s ignoring the world, he’s ignoring his family.”

Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man is available in cinemas from March 6. It will be available to stream on Netflix from March 20.
