The cast features Star Wars legend Mark Hamill, who portrays the villainous Major overseeing the walk. He is accompanied by Cooper Hoffman, son of Oscar-winning actor Philip Seymour Hoffman, alongside Industry star David Jonsson and Ransom Canyon actor Garrett Wareing.

Achieving an 88% rating on website Rotten Tomatoes, the film proved a triumph with critics and audiences alike. Despite alterations from the source material, numerous reviewers lauded its emotional resonance.

One critic declared the film ‘perfect’ while another went as far as branding it ‘one of the best Stephen King adaptations ever’. However, one reviewer cautioned: “It is not for the faint of heart, but it will stick with you.”

Numerous cinema-goers remarked on how they were moved to tears by the film’s conclusion. One person said: “Absolutely astonishing. Beautiful cinematic work and characters. Had me on the edge of my seat the whole time. So engaging, made me cry. Loved it a lot. Beautiful movie.”

Another admitted: “I don’t cry when I watch movies, if anything I tear up, the finale, made me hard cry, hard, speechless.” While someone else shared: “I don’t usually cry while watching movies but I definitely did watching this one. It really stuck with me.”

Echoing a similar sentiment, one person said: “This is my favourite movie of all time! This is one of the few movies I have ever watched that made me cry.

“Ray and Pete are a dynamic duo and Pete is one of the best written characters I’ve ever seen. This movie is definitely graphic, but it is still a beautiful movie. The premise is terrifying in a compelling way. 10/10 would recommend, I’ve watched it like 5 times already.”

The Long Walk is streaming on Prime Video.
