Consumers currently shopping for their summer holiday may be on the lookout for swimwear for beach and poolside days. Those who may feel self-conscious and would prefer to opt for a one-piece with tummy support might look to a best-selling option sold at Next.

The retailer is currently busy promoting its holiday shop on its website, and one of its most popular items is the Tummy Control Swimsuit (from £29). The shape-enhancing one-piece has firm support around the midriff and waist to ‘flatten the tummy and create a beautiful silhouette’, Next says.

It features a pretty wrap detail at the neckline, with adjustable straps for a comfy yet secure fit. It comes in ten different hues and prints, including white floral, plain black, green, coral, rose florals, navy, khaki, tropical print, black lace and cream florals.

The swimsuit is available in regular and petite options in sizes 8-22, with availability differing depending on which colour or print shoppers pick. The all-black piece is the most popular, with more than 110 reviews.

One shopper who bought the black coloured suit said: “This costume fitted well and hid all the lumps and bumps!” A second Next customer wrote: “Comfy and flattering for larger ladies.”

There are similar tummy-control one-pieces available at other retailers. New Look is selling an all-black tummy-support swimsuit for £30.99, with a delicate scallop design on the edges.

The swimsuit is made from a stretchy crinkle-cut material and is also available in a bright blue option. New Look’s costume is available in sizes 8-18.

Meanwhile, Boux Avenue is selling a two-piece bikini with high-waisted bottoms to conceal the lower half of the tummy. The bikini is available in either black or ecru colours – the top is £36, and the matching bottoms are £24.

Back to Next’s tummy-control swimsuit, the floral and printed options are slightly higher in price, with some costing up to £35. On the green colour a customer said: “The colour is beautiful and a fantastic fit. The shape gives lots of support and looks amazing on. Definitely recommend.”

Another customer, who picked up the black hue, wasn’t as pleased, saying: “Although good quality, it does not give the support needed. It is too baggy in the leg area and does not have enough bust room. Given that I am a 14-16, it is too big in places and too small in others.”

A fifth Next buyer said: “Perfect fit, rouched tummy area is really effective and looks flattering on. Very comfortable swimsuit and felt very confident in it!”

Another customer, who bought the tropical print suit, wrote: “Absolutely love the bold colour print and have also bought the matching cover up. The ruching and pattern disguises my tummy well. I’ve had Next swimsuits before and they have always lasted well, even when used in chlorine swimming pools.”

Lastly, a seventh customer who chose the coral pink option concluded: “Gorgeous colour and perfect fit! Improved the tummy area and is good value for money.”
