Next James Bond odds slashed on star now odds-on to replace Daniel Craig as 007 | Films | Entertainment
Five years on from Daniel Craig exploding himself out of the 007 film franchise and the actor to follow him will star in the reboot of reboots.
Not only is the story starting from scratch in a world where Bond didn’t die, but it’s the first official 007 film to be produced without EON Productions and the Broccoli family holding creative control.
Instead, Amazon MGM Studios has hired David Heyman (Paddington/Harry Potter) and Amy Pascal (Spider-Man films) to produce with Denis Villeneuve (Dune trilogy) directing and Steven Knight (Peaky Blinders) penning the Bond 26 script.
Over the bank holiday weekend, one rising star has seen a surge of support to bag the role of a lifetime and had his odds slashed from 10-11 to 1-2.
The star in question is Dua Lipa’s fiancée, Callum Turner, the 36-year-old Fantastic Beasts actor.
According to Coral’s John Hill: “Callum Turner is attracting significant backing in our market for the next James Bond. He is now the clear favourite, with the implied odds giving him a 67 per cent chance of replacing Daniel Craig.”
Take it all with a pinch of salt but here are the others in the running for the bookies’ Bond race: 6-1 Jacob Elordi, 6-1 Aaron Taylor-Johnson, 8-1 Harris Dickinson, 16-1 James Nelson-Joyce, 20-1 Henry Cavill, 20-1 Jonathan Bailey, 20-1 Theo James, 20-1 Jack Lowden, 20-1 Anthony Boyle.
