Last week, American audiences were treated to the cinematic release of Pressure, the untold true story of D-Day. Ahead of the UK debut, US film fans are hailing the movie, with one in the trailer comments claiming, “One of the best movies I’ve ever seen… this true story needed to be told,” and another added, “Watched it today! Absolutely excellent movie”.

British fans who have to wait until September to catch the highly anticipated new World War 2 film, which released its new trailer and poster today, are getting very excited too. One commented, “Can’t wait anymore, let’s go!!!” And another added, “I’m glad WW2 movies still show up. These are the true heroes.” So what’s the focus of this new D-Day film?

Pressure’s official synopsis reads: “In the seventy two hours leading up to D-Day, all the pieces are in place except for one key element – the British weather. Britain’s chief meteorological officer James Stagg (Andrew Scott) is called upon to deliver the most consequential forecast in history, locking him into a tense standoff with the entire Allied leadership. The wrong conditions could devastate the largest ever seaborne invasion, while any delay risks German intelligence catching on. With only his trusted aide Captain Kay Summersby (Kerry Condon) to confide in, and haunted by a catastrophic D-Day rehearsal, the final decision rests with Supreme Allied Commander Dwight D Eisenhower (Brendan Fraser). With only hours to go, the fate of the war and the lives of millions hang in the balance.”

It added: “The film’s stellar cast is rounded out with Golden Globe and Emmy Award winner Damian Lewis (Billions, Homeland, Band Of Brothers) in the role of Field Marshall Bernard Montgomery and Chris Messina (Air, Sharp Objects) portrays Irving P Krick, Dwight D Eisenhower’s trusted wartime Meteorologist. Developed and produced by StudioCanal and Working Title, Pressure is co-written by Maras alongside Olivier award-winner David Haig, who wrote the critically lauded play the film is based on.”

Following his Best Actor Oscar win a couple of years ago, fans commented on the trailer, “Seeing Brendan Fraser finally having his well-deserved recognition just makes me so happy”. Meanwhile, another added, “Not just Brendan Fraser but the entire cast is STACKED.”

Pressure is released in UK cinemas on September 9, 2026.
