Cinema screens are set to be dazzled once again with the arrival of a brand-new Superman film, soaring into view 12 years after Zack Snyder’s ‘Man of Steel’ in 2013, sending fans into a frenzy over the fresh trailer drop.

The beloved Superhero, originating from the minds of writer Jerry Siegel and artist Joe Shuster way back in 1938, is being re-envisioned by Director James Gunn, known for his smash hits such as Guardians of the Galaxy and The Suicide Squad.

David Corenswet will don the iconic cape this time around, succeeding Henry Cavill, while Rachel Brosnahan from The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel will portray the intrepid reporter Lois Lane.

Nicholas Hoult, recognised for his role in the X-Men series, is confirmed to embody Lex Luthor, Superman’s arch-nemesis.

DC had whetted appetites earlier in January 2023 with an announcement setting out the release schedule, and following shooting from February through July of 2024, the hype has reached a peak with the launch of the new trailer.

Fans have been pouring their jubilation across social media platforms, with one enthusing on YouTube: “WOW! James Gunn understood the assignment! July 11 can’t get here soon enough.”

Another admirer declared: “There is something about this movie…the trailers…that just…make me smile while watching it all.”

A further comment raved: “This trailer gave me chills. Finally, a Superman that feels both powerful and human.”

A fourth wrote: “You can tell there’s heart behind this. James Gunn might have just brought the soul back to DC.”

“I CAN NOT WAIT! ! SUPERMAN IS HERE!” one fan exclaimed, while another confessed: “I have never cried to a trailer before, never. Until now.

“My god this film looks incredible, not just acting wise but it is so visually gorgeous. I was hyped before but now… I am more hyped than literally anyone else on the planet.”

“I’m crying… Thanks James Gunn,” another admitted, with another echoing: “THIS TRAILER HAS ME SOBBING AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA.”

One fan declared: “THIS IS GOING TO BE THE BEST SUPERMAN FILM OF ALL TIME. JAMES GUNN COOKED HARD!!”

Yesterday, an exciting teaser for today’s trailer was released, featuring glimpses of Kal-El’s superhero dog Krypto and Cavill, Brosnahan and Hoult in their respective roles, reports the Mirror US.

The cast also includes Skyler Gisondo, who will portray Daily Planet photographer Jimmy Olsen, as well as model Sara Sampaio, who will appear as Eve Teschmacher.

Hoult’s X-Men: First Class co-star Edi Gathegi will take on the role of Mister Fantastic, while Alien: Romulus’ Isabela Merced will play Hawkgirl. Firefly actor Nathan Fillion is even slated to play Green Lantern.

In an Instagram post, Gunn himself teased: “I’ve been waiting too long to share this with you all! Full #Superman Trailer this Wednesday.”

Superman is coming to cinemas on July 11, 2025 and is set to be the first film of the DCU’s Chapter One: Gods and Monsters.
