Netflix is now streaming what’s being dubbed as one of ‘the saddest’ films of the decade, featuring a star-studded cast.

There are moments when viewers prefer a quiet evening in, shedding tears over a poignant film rather than indulging in action-packed sequences or comedic relief.

Films are crafted to evoke emotions, with sorrow often beautifully portrayed throughout cinematic history.

Whether it’s urging Jack in Titanic to clamber onto the door again, or witnessing the reunion scenes in The Shawshank Redemption, some of the most memorable scenes have us welling up.

For those who have had a bit of a rough week and need to fully express their emotions, Netflix has just the movie for you.

Premiered in UK cinemas back in January, We Live in Time has quickly established itself as a landmark in the romance genre, reports Manchester Evening News.

It explores a non-linear narrative to chronicle the relationship between Tobias Durand and Almut Brühl.

From their charming first encounter to health struggles, the romantic drama doesn’t shy away from delivering hard-hitting moments without sugar-coating for its audience.

Heading the project are Andrew Garfield and Florence Pugh, whose electrifying on-screen chemistry rivals that of iconic duos like Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan.

Collaborating once again with director John Crowley since their acclaimed 2009 effort Boy A, Garfield delivers a tour-de-force performance, skillfully weaving humour and suspense into his portrayal.

As for Pugh, any doubts about the 29-year-old actress leading Hollywood‘s future will vanish, potentially transforming viewers into ardent admirers.

The film has received overwhelming praise from Rotten Tomatoes critics, who have awarded it an impressive 79% score.

Their critical consensus states: “Andrew Garfield and Florence Pugh’s palpable chemistry will snatch audiences’ hearts before breaking them in We Live in Time, a powerful melodrama that uses its nonlinear structure to thoughtfully explore grief.”

Casual moviegoers were left equally impressed by the drama’s leading duo.

“I am speechless at how amazing Andrew Garfield and Florence Pugh were in this movie,” raved an IMDb user

The same viewer continued: “Outstanding performances! Their chemistry and onscreen relationship was perfection! An emotional film obviously because of the subject it was about, but portrayed excellently, with some funny parts also.

“Both actors deserve an Oscar for this film! These are 2 actors who can play any role flawlessly. Still crying driving home after the movie and a film has never done that!

“A close to home subject also which probably doesn’t help. Well done on this movie that portrays the struggles people are dealing with every single day! 10/10!!” (sic)

Another fan simply penned: “A real tear jerker and well acted.”
