Netflix has just dropped a contemporary Christmas gem that deserves pride of place in your December viewing schedule.

This beloved 2006 romantic comedy boasts an extraordinary ensemble cast, bringing together two Hollywood heavyweights alongside two British acting royalty for a heart-warming festive experience.

Landing on the platform from today (Tuesday, December 2nd), Nancy Meyers’ treasured seasonal romance continues to captivate audiences nearly two decades on from its cinema debut.

The Holiday stars Cameron Diaz and Kate Winslet as two women exchanging homes during the Christmas period, who unexpectedly forge romantic bonds with Jude Law’s widower character and Jack Black’s film composer.

One enthusiastic Letterboxd reviewer declared: “I finally watched this movie for the first time, and I’m completely obsessed. It made my december and my christmas watchlist so much better.

“The dialogues are incredibly real, it’s impossible not to connect with at least one character. The writing is amazing, and the actors captured the essence perfectly.

“The soundtrack is stunning, magnificent, and absolutely beautiful, I’m truly in love. I felt every possible emotion while watching this. Without a doubt, it’s the best christmas rom-com.”

One fan encapsulated their feelings succinctly: “I thought my heart was going to explode from how good this movie made me feel.”

Another viewer on IMDb urged those who haven’t seen The Holiday to prioritise it, writing: “I went and saw the late night showing of this and I have to tell everyone this movie was wonderful. Jack Black, Jude Law, Kate Winslet and Cameron Diaz were all absolutely phenomenal.

“The houses, locations and settings were gorgeous and it was funny. I was laughing out loud, and having one of the most wonderful movie going experiences I’ve had in a long time. You think you know a good movie, then this comes along and steps it up.

“I fell in love with the characters and their situations and hoped beyond hope that everything would work out. It was amazing and hilarious and I recommend it to everyone, man, women, couples, singles…”

A final critic shared: “Loved it when it first came out, still love it now. Its a must watch for me every Christmas.”
