Morrissey will resume his North American tour tonight, May 5, after postponing a pair of shows due to health issues.

A note shared on the musician’s Instagram yesterday said that the former Smiths frontman had “contracted a severe sinusitis attack and was treated at Coronado Hospital in San Diego.” The issue forced Morrissey to miss planned shows in San Diego and Rancho Mirage, California, though both have been rescheduled: The Rancho Mirage show will take place Oct. 24, while the San Diego gig is slated for Jan. 6, 2026.

“Morrissey, the band and crew, are very appreciative of those who convey understanding at difficult moments during tours,” the note read.

Morrissey kicked off his latest North American run late last month. He played shows in Reno, Nevada, as well as Fresno and Bakersfield, California, before his sinusitis attack temporarily forced him off the road. The trek picks back up tonight in Tucson, Arizona, with further shows scheduled in Texas, Oklahoma, Missouri, Georgia, and Florida.

It’s been five years since Morrissey released his latest solo album, 2020’s I Am Not a Dog on a Chain. Since then, Morrissey has teased two follow-up albums, but neither has been released.

One effort, Bonfire of the Teenagers, was recorded between 2020 and 2021 with producer Andrew Watt, and was set to feature an array of big-name guests, including Miley Cyrus, Red Hot Chili Peppers’ Chad Smith and Flea, and Iggy Pop. In an interview last year, Morrissey claimed that the album had been “gagged” and “idiot culture” was preventing its release. (Morrissey has courted controversy in recent years for some of his more far-right views, especially over immigration. Cyrus, at one point, also requested that her backing vocal contributions be removed.)

Morrissey has since said that he’s completed another album, Without Music the World Dies. While he’s played some of the tracks from that album live, he’s yet to share a release date.
