More toys recalled over asbestos risk at B&M, Home Bargains and others

The organisation has now expanded its list of affected retailers. Anyone who has the implicated Stretcherz Toys products has been advised to stop using them immediately and dispose of them appropriately. Asbestos is a prohibited substance as even minimal exposure can present a health hazard.

B&M, The Entertainer, Home Bargains, Morrisons and Poundland have now been included on the list. These major UK shops are also withdrawing Stretcherz toys, and have published details of the affected products.

What to do if you have an affected toy

The OPSS is urging anyone in possession of these items to cease using them without delay. It said: “If the sand is still in its packaging, place it in a heavy-duty plastic bag, double-tape it securely, label it clearly and store it in a secure location out of the reach of children.

“If the sand has been used, clean up sites where the product was used using wet cloths to avoid generating dust. Wear gloves and a mask. Double bag the sand, gloves, mask and cloths. “.

The OPSS continued: “Keep children and other people away from areas where the sand has been used until the area has been cleaned. Dispose of the product in your general household waste.”

Customers can approach the retailer from whom they bought the product to request a refund.
