Miami U. Announces $100M Gift for Business School
A family foundation has pledged to donate up to $100 million to Miami University’s Farmer School of Business over the next 10 years—the largest gift in the university’s 200-plus year history.
The Farmer Family Foundation will start by donating $55 million over the next three years to advance the business school’s strategic priorities, including improving students’ career readiness through training in AI and other emerging technologies.
The school was first named for Miami U. alumni Dick Farmer and his wife, Joyce Farmer, in 1992, when they contributed its cornerstone gift. In 2005, their foundation served as the lead donor in the construction of the Farmer School of Business building, and, nearly a decade later, they donated another $40 million.
“We are incredibly grateful to the Farmer family and the foundation for their unwavering dedication to our university,” Miami University president Gregory Crawford said. “This extraordinary gift is the largest in Miami’s history and will enable the Farmer School of Business to continue its trajectory as one of the most distinguished business schools both nationally and worldwide. Generations of Miami students will benefit from their remarkable generosity.”
