Megan Thee Stallion Hospitalized Amid ‘Moulin Rouge’ Performance
The rapper’s “symptoms are currently being evaluated” a spokesperson said in a statement
Megan Thee Stallion was transported to a hospital on Tuesday, March 31, during her performance of Moulin Rouge! The Musical and left the show mid-way.
“During Tuesday night’s production [of Moulin Rouge! The Musical], Megan started feeling very ill and was promptly transported to a local hospital, where her symptoms are currently being evaluated,” a spokesperson for the artist said in a statement. “We will share additional updates as more information becomes available.”
The Grammy winner’s hairstylist Kellon Deryck wrote in a separate X post, “Everyone say a prayer for Megan, we are all at the hospital.”
Megan Thee Stallion announced in February that she joined the cast of Broadway’s Moulin Rouge! The Musical in the role of the Moulin Rouge’s owner and MC, Zidler. Her run with the production began on March 24 and will wrap on May 17.
The role was originated by Danny Burstein, who won a Tony for the role. Tituss Burgess, Boy George, and Wayne Brady have all played it since it opened in July 2018. “I’ve always believed in pushing myself creatively,” Megan Thee Stallion said in a statement, according to The New York Times, “and theater is definitely a new opportunity that I’m excited to embrace.”
The rapper added, “Broadway demands a different level of discipline, preparation and storytelling, but I’m up for the challenge and can’t wait for the Hotties to see a new side of me.”
