A brand-new trailer has dropped for a forthcoming WWII film based on an incredible true story, which promises to be a gripping watch.

Pressure focuses on the Allied Forces in the 72 hours leading up to D-Day as they prepare for one of the most significant military operations of WWII, in hopes of changing the course of the conflict.

Britain’s chief meteorological officer James Stagg (played by Andrew Scott) is enlisted to deliver the most important forecast in history.

His presence throws him into conflict with the Allied leadership as the wrong weather conditions could spell disaster for the largest-ever seaborne invasion.

Meanwhile, any delays to the mission could lead Nazi intelligence catching onto the operation and scupper any hopes of victory.

Supreme Allied Commander Dwight D. Eisenhower (Brendan Fraser) will be the one to make the final call, however, he is haunted by a catastrophic D-Day rehearsal.

Eisenhower will be relying on his trusted aide and confidante, Captain Kay Summersby (Kerry Condon).

The film is being described as a “thrilling and revealing account of the three-day run-up to D-Day”. Pressure is based on the 2014 stage play of the same name by acclaimed playwright David Haig.

Although Pressure was already released in US cinemas on May 29, British audiences will have to wait until the autumn, when the film will be released on September 9.

A new trailer has been released, showing tensions mounting as a conflict rages over whether to launch D-Day or hold off. Eisenhower and Stagg clash when the latter warns the troops will be “washed away” if they go to Normandy.

With a ticking clock in the background, things come to a head between the two men as Eisenhower demands: “Go or don’t go?”

Later, Eisenhower says: “Why should I trust you?” Stagg simply responds: “Because the wrath of nature is real.”

The movie also stars Band of Brothers and Billions actor Damian Lewis as Field Marshall Bernard Montgomery and Sharp Objects star Chris Messina as Irving P. Krick, who was Eisenhower’s trusted wartime meteorologist.

Pressure comes from the producers of the Oscar-nominated Darkest Hour and has already been praised by audience members on IMDb.

One person declared in their 10/10 review titled “exceptional”: “An amazing cerebral masterpiece.”

The user went on to say: “It was riveting. The D-Day scenes were squeezed into a few heart wrenching minutes, but watching the men who sent into battle was just as heart wrenching. Don’t miss this.”

A second commented in their top-rated review: “Amazing! Must see this underrated story, movie is AWESOME.”

They added: “The acting was fabulous and compelling.”

Yet another top-tier review declared it to be the “best movie so far this year” as the audience member noted: “The movie was well casted, and the flow was very good for a war movie with not much warfare.”

Someone else posited in their 9/10 review: “The Oppenheimer of this summer?”

The viewer commented: “Pressure is what I wish all movies could be-perfectly written, directed, filmed, scored, costumed, set, and acted.”

Pressure will be released in UK cinemas on September 9
