If you’re looking for an unforgettable film, there’s one you simply must consider. This heartbreaking epic is based on a true story and it’s a film that never leaves its audience once they’ve watched it.

Schindler’s List is one of the most iconic war films there is and it’s no surprise to see it at the top spot on Collider’s list of the 20 greatest war films of all time. The 1993 film stars Liam Neeson and was directed by Steven Spielberg.

The film follows the story of industrialist Oskar Schindler in German-occupied Poland during World War II. He gradually becomes concerned for his Jewish workforce after witnessing their persecution by the Nazis.

Collider calls the film a “masterpiece”, it says: “At the end of it all, Spielberg returns to claim the top spot with arguably his greatest film, 1993’s Schindler’s List. This incredibly emotional biographical WWII drama defines what it means to be an epic.”

One person who watched the film on IMDB said: “Businessman Oskar Schindler saved the lives of many Jews by employing them in his factories, keeping them from the horrors of the Concentration Camps.

“This is, and will forever be, one of the best films ever made. Not just the ultimate story of the Holocaust, but a true masterpiece.

“If you can sit through it without being moved to tears, you’re made of stronger stuff than I am. The sheer scale of the suffering depicted, and the courage amidst it, is chilling and unforgettable.

“The pacing is remarkable. At three hours, it flashes by quickly, yet it’s three hours that will stay with you forever. Some of the scenes will rightly never be forgotten.”

The film is based on the novel “Schindler’s Ark” by Thomas Keneally.

Keneally’s book, which won the Booker Prize in 1982, served as the inspiration for Spielberg to bring this incredible story to the big screen.

Another fan said: “I have only ever seen this film once, I only ever want to see this film once and I will only ever need to see this film once. It is etched on my mind. I, like many others, left in silence.

“I could not imagine inventing a critical analysis of this film, picking small points of detail or of style, or even scoring points off the Director. It stands alone as a monumental piece of cinema, a magnificent accomplishment.”

The film was shot in black and white to evoke a sense of historical authenticity and emphasise the starkness of the Holocaust.

If you’re hoping to watch the film, it is available on Amazon Prime.
