A war film that has been branded as perfect and a masterpiece has recently been added to Netflix for film fanatics to tune into. Inglourious Basterds is a 2009 film by renowned filmmaker Quentin Tarantino, which has an impressive 89% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

The synopsis on the film review website reads: “It is the first year of Germany’s occupation of France. Allied officer Lt. Aldo Raine (Brad Pitt) assembles a team of Jewish soldiers to commit violent acts of retribution against the Nazis, including the taking of their scalps.

“He and his men join forces with Bridget von Hammersmark, a German actress and undercover agent, to bring down the leaders of the Third Reich. Their fates converge with theatre owner Shosanna Dreyfus, who seeks to avenge the Nazis’ execution of her family.”

The two-hour, 32-minute film stars Brad Pitt, Christoph Waltz, Michael Fassbender, and Eli Roth, and the cast is praised for their excellent performances.

In fact, fans love it so much that many went as far as putting it down as Tarantino’s best work, with multiple dubbing it “Tarantino’s Masterpiece,” while another wrote: “Debatably Tarantino’s best work”.

One fan even described the film as a “10/10 A rare perfect movie”, whilst another said it was one of the best World War 2 films they’ve ever seen.

They wrote: “Another beautifully curated masterpiece from Quentin Tarantino! This movie was incredible, and it is probably one of the best World War II era films I’ve ever seen. Brad Pitt and Christoph Waltz absolutely shined in this movie, and Waltz gave one of the best villain performances I’ve ever seen.

“I had so much fun watching this movie, and it was the perfect blend of dark humour and wartime concepts. I definitely recommend it for comedy, history, and war movie fans!”

Critics also commended the work, including Next Best Picture, which wrote: “‘Inglourious Basterds’ cemented itself into not only an important project in Tarantino’s filmography but also into the mythmaking of his presence in contemporary American filmmaking as a whole.”

The film is available to watch on Netflix.
