‘Masterpiece’ new World War 2 action movie with 95% score is now streaming | Films | Entertainment
Finnish World War 2 action movie Sisu is a hidden gem, having hit No 1 on the Netflix UK film chart back in 2024.
Set during 1944’s Lapland War, the original film follows a Finnish Army commando turned gold prospector attempting to defend himself from being robbed and murdered by a Waffen-SS platoon.
Influenced by the Spaghetti Westerns of Sergio Leone and Rambo First Blood, this gory flick received critical acclaim upon release and now has a sequel that’s been hailed a “masterpiece” by some critics.
But now World War 2 has just ended, this time around, he’s not taking on the Nazis, but the Soviets, and specifically Stephen Lang’s Red Army commander.
The film’s official synopsis reads: “SISU: ROAD TO REVENGE is a wall-to-wall cinematic action event, a sequel to the original sleeper hit SISU. Returning to the house where his family was brutally murdered during the war, “the man who refuses to die” (Jorma Tommila) dismantles it, loads it on a truck, and is determined to rebuild it somewhere safe in their honor. When the Red Army commander who killed his family (Stephen Lang from Don’t Breathe) comes back hellbent on finishing the job, a relentless, eye-popping cross-country chase ensues – a fight to the death, full of clever, unbelievable action set pieces.”
Sisu: Road to Revenge is available to Buy or Rent on Digital now, and to own on SteelBook, 4K UHD, Blu-ray and DVD from February 16.
