‘Masterpiece’ horror film on Netflix best of all time list 7 years after it was released | Films | Entertainment

A Netflix original film that was one of the most spoken about and watched films at the time of its release in 2018, remains one of Netflix’s most popular films of all time. The incredible thriller received mixed reviews from critics but was popular with viewers who described it as one of the best thrillers and a film that was masterfully produced.

According to Netflix’s official site, Tudum, which offers “news, insights, and updates” on the platform’s latest titles, Bird Box gained a staggering 157,400,000 views, landing it in the sixth spot on its list of top 10 movies of all time. The Netflix synopsis reads: “In the wake of an unknown global terror, a mother must find the strength to flee with her children down a treacherous river in search of safety. Due to unseen deadly forces, the perilous journey must be made blindly”.

One fan, branding it as “one of the best thrillers” they have ever watched offered it as a recommendation for thriller fans. On Rotten Tomatoes, they wrote: “The entire time I was on edge, hoping that whatever-it-was wouldn’t get the characters. I was hooked from beginning to end, and I really enjoyed watching it. I definitely recommend it for thriller fans!”

Another simply put is as “one of the best movies” whilst a second branded the two-hour and four-minute film as “unique” and praised Sandra Bullock for her “wonderful performance”. The same fan also highly recommended the film, describing it as shocking and “very unpredictable”.

The film also had its fair share of criticism, but one viewer, who “had no idea people disliked the movie at all,” was quick to defend it before naming it as one of their favourite films.

They wrote: ” I had no idea people disliked this movie at all. This is a really really great movie that made me ball my eyes out more than once. The premise of this movie is so intriguing and is executed in a brilliant, chilling way. Throughout this movie, I kept thinking about how masterfully it was done.

The same fan went on to praise the actors and touch on how not only was it an interesting and creepy story, but it also evoked “heavy emotions that really connect the audience and make you really care about the characters.”

They added: “To top it all off, the ending makes perfect sense, whilst still being something most people never considered. It’s such a well done movie. Each character stands out for their own reasons and they’re unique and likeable in different ways. Overall, this is one of my favourite movies I’ve ever watched and I was left feeling very satisfied. I would recommend this to everyone!”

While it may be one of the most talked-about movies of the last decade, for those who haven’t watched it and enjoy a film that keeps you glued to the screen, Bird Box is available to watch on Netflix.
