Pumpkin-spiced lattes are all the rage, and for good reason. They’re tasty, come hot or iced, and just make you feel excited for Halloween and all things autumnal.

However, with more and more people becoming conscious about their health and only wanting to splash out on the real deal on a special occasion, pumpkin-spice lovers don’t have to panic, as there’s a way to make them at home, without any refined sugar.

A Starbucks Pumpkin Spiced Latte contains 50g of sugar, which is the equivalent of 12 and a half teaspoons of sugar. If that made your jaw drop, same. Because it’s tasty, but is it really that tasty?

The NHS recommends adults should have no more than 30g of free sugar a day, which is about seven teaspoons. Just let that sink in.

TikTok user @ledelle_m shared: “It’s so easy to make your own at home with real pumpkin, warming spices and no refined sugar!”

To make the actual latte, you will need a cup of oat milk or milk of your choice, depending on your dietary requirements.

Then, you’ll need a ¼ cup of coffee, a heaped tablespoon of pumpkin puree, a tablespoon of date or maple syrup, and a teaspoon of pumpkin spice.

To create your homemade pumpkin spice blend, you’ll need two tablespoons of ground cinnamon, two teaspoons of ground ginger, a teaspoon of ground nutmeg, and a teaspoon of ground cloves.

In the accompanying video, she showed herself mixing all the spices together to make the homemade spice blend.

Then, she popped the pumpkin puree into the glass, followed by a generous helping of the syrup, some pumpkin spice, and the coffee to loosen the whole mixture.

Then, you can make the milk nice and frothy, pop it into the glass, and then sprinkle your homemade spice blend on the top of it.

Voila! You’ve got your very own pumpkin spice latte, and it has no refined sugar in it. Seems like a win to us, especially if you’ve been on a health journey in 2025, or just even want to save yourself some serious money!

In the comments, someone said it looked “yummy”.

With a standard Pumpkin Spice Latte costing around £4.90, there’s every reason to get the ingredients yourself so you can make them again and again over cosy season and beyond.

So, what are you waiting for? Will you be making your own PSL at home? Let us know in the comments…
