The Senate committee hearing to confirm President-elect Trump’s education secretary nominee, Linda McMahon, likely won’t happen until after Inauguration Day, Politico reported.

Dr. Bill Cassidy, a Louisiana Republican senator and chair of the committee that will process the nomination, told Politico that the former wrestling entertainment CEO’s hearing won’t be scheduled until the committee receives certain paperwork. The Trump transition team has to submit documents such as financial disclosures and conflict of interest forms to the Office of Government Ethics on behalf of each nominee before they can be confirmed.

While Senate committees have set up hearings for national security and energy-related cabinet picks next week, McMahon’s questioning has yet to be put on the calendar.

“Right now the hold seems to be on their side,” Cassidy said.

Education Secretary Miguel Cardona’s confirmation hearing was held Feb. 3, 2021, 14 days after Joe Biden’s inauguration, and former Trump education secretary Betsy DeVos’s hearing was held on Jan. 17, 2017, three days before Trump’s first inauguration.

Cassidy has not met with McMahon but said they’ve briefly spoken on the phone, according to Politico.
