Lewis Capaldi Surprise Glastonbury Peformance: Watch
Lewis Capaldi is back, and his return made for one of the most emotional Glastonbury moments of the weekend
The rumors were true: Lewis Capaldi delivered his first public performance in two years at Glastonbury this evening.
The singer last performed at the festival in 2023, where he was seen battling Tourette’s throughout the set and announced a short while afterward that all upcoming tour dates would be cancelled to focus on his mental and physical well-being.
But two years later, it’s a case of perfect synergy as Capaldi returned to the Pyramid Stage to “finish what I couldn’t finish,” in his own words.
He arrived shortly before 5 PM and was overwhelmed as he took in the huge crowd gathered before him, launching straight into “Before You Go.”
“I’m not going to say much up here today, because if I do, I’ll probably start crying. it’s just amazing to be here with you all, and I can’t thank you enough for coming out and coming to see me,” he told the crowd. “Second time’s the charm on this one.”
He also joked that the set was the “worst kept fucking secret” of the entire festival. He also debuted his emotional comeback track ‘Survive’, which sees the singer open up on the pain of the last two years.
“I really missed doing this over the last two years, and it’s been a difficult time,” he said shortly before closing with “Someone You Loved.”
“I thought maybe this return wouldn’t happen. Genuinely from the bottom of my heart it means the fucking world. I’m back, baby!”
Lewis Capaldi played:
‘Before You Go’
‘Grace’
‘Bruises’
‘Survive’
‘Forget Me’
‘Someone You Loved’
