JoJo Siwa Details ‘Excruciating’ Pain That Sent Her to Hospital
JoJo Siwa revealed she was briefly hospitalized prior to a Minnesota performance Friday after suffering “excruciating” stomach pain.
In a TikTok post Saturday, the singer discussed the ordeal that occurred hours before a Mall of America performance.
“So long story short, every time that I’ve been dancing for the last couple of days or even just like walking like anything, my stomach would just really, really hurt,” Siwa said.
“And I don’t know why, but it just kind of passed, and so I was like, ‘Oh, maybe it’s that time of the month, maybe it’s a cramp, I don’t know.”
Siwa attempted to “calm” the pain by taking a warm bath, but that only exacerbated the symptoms. “That set it off 100 times worse,” Siwa said, adding that her mother ultimately advised her to call an ambulance.
When EMTs arrived, her vitals were “normal,” but a subsequent trip to the hospital unearthed the source of Siwa’s pain: “One of my ovaries had a cyst on it that burst and was bleeding into my stomach.”
“So that’s what was causing the excruciating pain — anytime that the blood in your stomach moves, that’s the bleeding in the stomach,” Siwa added. “It’s like brutal pain, and long story short, [it] should revolve itself. It should stop on its own.”
Thanks to some pain medication, Siwa still managed to make her Mall of America performance, though she needs to get re-checked in a week.
“We’re going to keep it pushing, and if I vomit or if I have that excruciating pain burst again, I got to go immediately back in, but we should be okay,” Siwa said.
