According to scooper MyTimeToShineHello: “Johnny Depp’s Jack Sparrow is in the script for the next Pirates of the Caribbean film in a supporting role.” This would suggest something of a soft reboot for the franchise with new characters supported by legacy ones, much like the Star Wars sequels. Perhaps Depp will just cameo towards the end before returning in a bigger capacity in a seventh outing.
