Jennie Taps Peggy Gou for Propulsive ‘Like Jennie’ Remix
The Blackpink singer will make her solo debut at Coachella this weekend
Jennie has shared a new version of her song, “Like Jennie,” featuring South Korean electronic artist Peggy Gou. The duo also released an animated visualizer for the remix created by Jack Zhang at Animate Jack that showcases the musicians as anime-inspired boxing characters.
“Like Jennie” comes off Jennie’s debut studio LP, Ruby, out now viathe Blackpink member’s own record label Odd Atelier and Columbia Records. The 15-track album features collaborations with Childish Gambino, Doechii, Dominic Fike, Dua Lipa, FKJ, and Kali Uchis.
Jennie kicked off her musical career outside Blackpink in 2018 with the aptly-titled “Solo.” The singer told Billboard earlier this month that she began thinking about an album when Blackpink’s last tour concluded in 2023.
“I couldn’t stop myself from starting to plan ahead. I’m just like that,” she said. “I listed out the things that I want in my life and started pinpointing, or prioritizing, what’s my very next step. And instantly, I was like, ‘I still haven’t accomplished the dream of releasing a solo album.’ I wanted to satisfy myself by achieving that goal.”
The singer recently wrapped five solo shows as part of The Ruby Experience in Los Angeles, New York, Seoul, and Paris. She will make her solo debut at Coachella this weekend, performing at the Outdoor Theatre on the Sunday of both weekends.
