Fans have just days left to watch one of the best films ever made as it gears up to leave Netflix in the coming days. While Netflix adds several new and classic titles every month, from incredible war movies to thrilling horrors to epic period dramas, it means that some titles have to leave the streaming platform. One of those is a classic movie that swept the Oscars after it was released and has cemented itself as one of the best films ever made.

Schindler’s List was released in 1994 and stars Liam Neeson. The film is praised to this day as a harrowing telling of the Holocaust. Its black and white style adds to the intimacy of this movie experience, and it has stood the test of time, still considered a top pick in the war film genre more than 30 years after its initial release. Neeson, who stars in one of his career-defining roles, plays Oscar Schindler. The character is a successful and narcissistic German businessman who slowly starts worrying about the safety of his Jewish workforce after witnessing their persecution in Poland during World War II.

The film features many movie stars, including Ralph Fiennes, Ben Kingsley, and Embeth Davidtz. Schindler’s List regularly ranks high on lists of the best World War 2 movies and the best movies about war in general.

In fact, reviews have referred to it as one of the best movies ever made. One Rotten Tomatoes user said: “One of the best movies ever made! Best movie about WW2.”

Another shared: “A film so powerful it moves into the dimension of transcendent art. So many iconic characters and scenes it’s hard to believe that at one point this was simply advertised as Spielberg’s latest film you could casually go see in the cinemas for the first time. A potent reminder of the true power of film to pierce into the core of the human experience and spirit.”

A third wrote: “It took me 30 years to bring myself to watch this film. It’s brilliant, haunting and horrifying at the same time.”

A fourth said: “This movie has haunted me ever since I saw it. This movie serves as a timeless reminder of the horrors committed during the Holocaust, and it portrays the suffering and animosity brilliantly. The performances in this movie were spectacular, and I believe it is one of the best movies ever produced. Everyone should see this movie at least once.”

Schindler’s List will leave Netflix on Wednesday, October 22. However, a number of great films have recently been added to the streaming service for UK subscribers, including Don’t Say a Word (2001), Romeo + Juliet (1996) and What Happens Later (2023).
