Amazon has confirmed the highly anticipated TV continuation of the Rocky franchise, Delphi, has lined up its main cast.

The upcoming series set to stream on Prime Video follows a group of young young boxers at the elite Delphi Academy in Los Angeles, California which trained Rocky Balboa’s (played by Sylvester Stallone) rival and friend, Apollo Creed (Carl Weathers).

Produced by Michael B. Jordan’s Outlier Society, the highly anticipated series is a spin-off from the Creed trilogy, itself a Rocky offshoot, which stars Jordan as Apollo’s son Adonis.

Delphi will star as series regulars Benji Santiago (Broadway’s The Notebook), Juan Castano (Rob Peace), Demián Bichir (Land), André Holland (Love, Brooklyn), Andre Royo (The Punisher: One Last Kill), Sofia Black-D’Elia (Remarkably Bright Creatures), and Victoria Vourkoutiotis (Elsbeth).

Plus, Wood Harris (The Wire), Niles Fitch (Forever), Dasan Frazier (A Different World), Graham Patrick Martin (Catch-22), Brittany Adebumola (M.I.A.), Rene Moran (Cross), Okieriete Onaodowan (Hamilton), and Breanna Yde (School of Rock) will be joining in recurring roles.

Marco Ramirez is the showrunner for the series, having previously worked on successful dramas such as Marvel’s Daredevil and The Defenders as well as co-creating the 2019 reboot of The Twilight Zone with Simon Kinberg and Jordan Peele.

Details for Delphi’s cast of characters have also been released, confirming Santiago and Castano as brothers Santi and Nico Torres, while Bichir will portray their father Hector.

Santi was raised in East Los Angeles and has lived under the shadow of his older brother Nico, a naturally gifted boxer with personal demons. Hector is their father who was originally born in Mexico and now operates a boxing gym in LA after raising his sons with a tough-love approach.

Holland will play intelligent boxing strategist Teddy ‘T-Bone’ Parker, Delphi’s lead instructor, while Royo is Elmer Tatum, described as an ‘eccentric boxing encyclopedia’.

Black-D’Elia is portraying Bobbi Weiss, an accountant with dreams of becoming a boxing trainer despite never stepping foot in the ring before. Vourkoutiotis is shy young boxer Kai Katsaros, while Harris is Little Duke, the son of Apollo’s legendary trainer Tony ‘Duke’ Evers, who trains Delphi’s younger talent.

Recurring cast includes Fitch as Dante, Frazier as Remy, Martin as Jackson, Adebumola as Mina, b (You) as Didi, Moran as Iggy, Onaodowan as Freddie, and Yde as Ana.

Oscar-winning Sinners star Jordan announced the cast on his Instagram page this week, penning: “This one is special to me. Getting here took vision, trust, and a lot of people betting on the next evolution of Creed.

“Irwin Winkler, Ryan Coogler, Marco Ramirez, José Padilha, and my amazing producing partner Liz Raposo, grateful doesn’t even cover it. Thank you for building this with me.”

Production on Delphi is currently underway in Los Angeles and a release date has not yet been confirmed.
