Anyone with a streaming subscription has probably spent considerable time browsing through choices – only to abandon the search and turn the television off without selecting anything.

To help viewers in discovering their next obsession, film enthusiast Eccy has highlighted a “must-watch” series, saying its seven award nominations don’t do it justice.

TikTok user Eccy Reviews, who frequently shares film and television recommendations, stated: “There’s a crime show on Netflix everyone should be watching.”

Created by Sarah Phelps, the 2019 series Dublin Murders follows detectives Rob Reilly and Cassie Maddox as they’re drawn deeper into the mystery surrounding the murder of a young girl on the outskirts of Dublin.

The programme stars Sarah Greene, Michael D’Arcy and Killian Scott, and has been lauded by viewers for its compelling storyline – with many confessing they couldn’t stop at just one episode.

Eccy said: “It’s so intriguing. I was on the edge of my seat the entire time. I loved every episode. Trust me, it’s definitely worth watching.”

Responding to his video, one user commented: “Only watched the first episode but really enjoying it so far.”

Another added: “Whenever I’m on Netflix I spend an hour scrolling, then just turn the TV off.”

A third said: “I’m going to watch this now. Love your content.”

One more user noted: “I read the books years ago – finished them in less than a week. Completely addictive.”

The series has also garnered praise from IMDb users, maintaining a 7.1 rating from thousands of reviews. One critic stated: “I binge-watched this in one go. It starts slow as the characters develop, but the plot is far more complex than it first appears. Just when you think you’ve figured it out, another clue appears and pulls you back in. The acting is superb.”

Another commented: “This gets you hooked from the first episode. I just wish it was released as a whole as I hate waiting for each episode.

“One of the best shows on tv in a long time. Brilliant cast. Killian Scott has been in a few shows I’ve seen and he is fantastic in this as well. Hope there’s more than one season.”

Another viewer noted: “This show might not be for everyone it certainly doesn’t make things easy for you to understand but don’t judge it off just viewing a few episodes or the plot holes.

“The acting is stellar and the story is intriguing if at times too confusing. If you want easy don’t watch this, if you wanna use your brain and see some unusual stories unfold without letting you know the obvious than this is for you.” “I’m enjoying this week after week and can’t wait to get to the bottom of the mystery.”

A final spectator said: “First episode in and it’s a strong start. It has the potential to be a top-tier series, but it does require patience as the story builds. So far, it’s been engaging and well worth it.”
